“Hey, Can I ask you something?” A young girl asked, sitting next to a young boy, her age, under the night sky.
“Sure Val, what is it?” the boy answered.
“What’s it like out there? Outside Valhalla? Is it really
that beautiful like in the stories?”
“Yep, it's even more beautiful than any place you can
imagine. Especially, when the sun sets and you’re flying over the scenery.” He
said.
“Really!? I can’t wait until I awaken to my powers.
That’s the first thing I’m going to do.” the little girl said, excitedly.
“Yeah, that’s how I met my first love, Ragas Amos.
However, it wasn’t till I was a teenager that I realized I was lied to.” Valkyrie
said.
“Lied?” a woman asked confused.
“He told me he was a god from a different realm, but he
was something different. Something greater.” Valkyrie replied.
“Different? Care to explain?” the woman said curiously.
“Is that really important?”
“I could same thing about a world-renowned therapist needing
therapy.” The woman said.
“Ha-ha, you’re so funny. We both know why I need this.”
Val said.
“Because your side job requires you to have at least two
therapy sessions out of the year. And you don’t like the therapist they hired. So,
you came here because you only trust your friends with information about your
past.” The woman said.
“Yep, keep calling yourself that… one day it might be
true.” Val said.
“Very funny. Now, shall we continue. Tell me… how did you
become the hero we know today?” the woman said.
“Well, I roamed the earth for thousands of years, observing
humanity. I’ve seen the first man and woman give birth. I was there when the
first civilization was destroyed by things, such as greed and desire. But, still
you humans always found a way to bounce back. And things were good. However,
thousands of years later, the humans were close to extinction from a mishap
with a summoning spell they tried.”
“Wait, you mean one of the most apocalyptic events in
history was caused by humans trying to summon a demon.” The woman said.
“Well, between the two of us, it was caused by Neuron. He
wanted help to get rid of some people. Knowing him, it was someone who was
going to expose him.
“Expose him?”
“Yeah, everyone’s favorite rich billion engineer is a…
Suddenly, an alarm goes off. “Yes?” Valkyrie asked annoyed.
“I’m sorry to interrupt your therapy session. A new meta-human is holding up a bank. “
“Really, you called me, a retired superhero, for a
meta-human robbing a bank.”
“Well, the reason for that is because she asked for you
personally.”
“Alright, I’ll be there in a minute,” Valkyrie said as
she hung up. “Sorry, I’m going to have to cut this session short. A sudden
emergency had come up.”
“Alright. But next time, I want to hear more about this
ex of yours. Call it intuition, but I think there’s a flame of forbidden
passion there.”
“Forbidden what?”
“You don’t have to tell me. But I know you loved this
Raga. Now that Atomic Master is out of the picture, maybe you can spark it up
again.”
“Okay, first off, I broke up with Atomic Master years ago
and started dating again months later. As for that spark you’re talking about,
it never existed. Now, if you’ll excuse
me, I have a pod I need to meet.” Valkyrie said before walking out the door.
“Wow, note to self, mentioning ex-boyfriend, Raga, will
allow progress to be made.” The woman said.
Flying thousands of miles above the ground, Valkyrie meets
up with a pod and opens. Inside the pod, her armor, and tools she used. Changing
into her armor and equipping her sword, Val quickly jumped from the pod and
flew to the bank robbery. Once outside the bank, she was stopped by the local
police and the female teenage hero, Lash.
“What are you doing here, Val?” Lash said.
“Apparently, to do your job. Now out of my way.” Valkyrie
said as she tried to walk past them.
“No can do. This is Social Justice business.” Lash said
as she stopped Valkyrie.
Valkyrie sighed. “Alright,” she thought. Flying through the
bank’s door, Lash lands in front of the person holding up the bank. The person
looks down at her, confused. “Hello, I believe you asked to see me,” Valkyrie
said as she walked into the bank.
“AUNT VAL!” a ten-year-old girl shouted as she rushed at Valkyrie,
knocking her down.
-Ten minutes later-
“Okay, kid. What’s your name again? And what are you
doing here?”
“My name is Veronica Vik, daughter of Thor.”
“See that's impossible, my brother doesn’t even have a girlfriend,
let alone a child,” Valkyrie said.
“Well, maybe not now, but in the future, he meets a
beautiful woman an… No, I’m getting off-topic. I’ve come here to get your help.”
“What’s wrong?”
“From the time I’m from, the gods started a war against
the humans and their heroes, killing most of them. But they didn’t foresee an
alien invasion.”
“What? I can’t
believe Avery let the god get away with this.”
“Well, Avery was kinda busy fighting in hell to stop the
random hell portals appearing in another world. So, she couldn’t help. And the Nexis
agents were busy with preventing giants from invading our universe. Taking most
of the good defenders away, including you and the ISL. Which brings me to why
I’m here. I came here to bring you back to 2079 with me to help with preventing the god war.”
“Really? You want me to stop the God war. I’m one
person.”
“Yeah, one person who is as powerful as Erius Dark.”
Veronica said.
“What!?”
“Sorry, can’t tell you any more than that. I need to get
back before the timeline’s stream shift or I’ll never get back home. I’m going
to prepare the ship to leave. Meet me here in the next hour if you want to help.”
Veronica said as she gave Valkyrie a piece of paper. She then flew away, leaving
Valkyrie to decide on what she should do.
An hour later,
Valkyrie arrives at the location that
Veronica told her about. However, it was empty. The only thing there was an
abandoned gas station.
“Did I get the wrong address?” Valkyrie asked as she
looked for the paper.
“It’s the right place. I’m just running a little late. I
had to pick up another person that might be helpful.” Veronica said as she
floats down, holding onto Sydney, who was unconscious.
“Syd! Oh my Odin, is she okay?” Valkyrie asked as she
lifted Sydney.
“Yeah, she’s fine. I just need her specific DNA signature
to unlock the DERAD bunker here. So,
we’ll have a safe place to arrive when we get there.”
“A what?”
“A DERAD bunker. The world’s most confided secret in
human history. It’s what the Nexis agents used as headquarters so they wouldn’t
be noticed by Social Justice. Not even the gods could find these bases, making
it the perfect place to activate the time portal device.”
“Okay,” Valkyrie said, confused.
Walking inside the station, Valkyrie and Veronica found themselves
surrounded by turrets and agents who were holding their weapons.
“You have until the count of three to let go of Director Amos.”
“Amos?” Veronica said.
“Sydney’s maiden name. I guess she came to her senses and
divorced Rick like I said.”
“So, that means she’s my sister. Making Avery… my… NEICE!
I’m related to the world’s greatest hero in history.” Veronica thought.
“No, I separated from him, but did you have to say it like
that. He wasn’t that bad.” Sydney said as she woke.
“Glad your awake, can you call off your turrets? I don’t think I could protect all of us from
them.”
“Their concussive cannons. Non-lethal meant to keep the
worst of the worst from destroying the Earth.”
“Concussive?”
“Don’t underestimate them. They’re strong enough to stop
Avery in her tracks. Not that we need to.”
“So, I’m going to let you down now. Don’t want to get me
or my niece obliterated.” Valkyrie said as she easily placed Sydney down.
“Niece? Care to explain.” Sydney
said.
“I don’t know much about that. She held up a bank just to get my attention.”
“For what?”
“She wants to take me to the future to stop
the gods starting a war with us.”
Sydney sighed. “You know I missed the
days when the most dangerous thing we had to worry about was my daughter. Can
you think of any reason why they might want to war?”
“I don’t know. I don’t talk to any of
the gods. Haven’t since I left Asgard. Who knows what my father and the council
was thinking.” Valkyrie said.
“Well, that’s why I and Mai made this
organization. To stop threats like that. So, take me with you.” Sydney said.
“What? Syd, I don’t know if I could
protect you while in the future. Besides, won’t they need you here.”
“Not really, right now, Nexis is still deep
undercover and recruiting from around the world and other dimensions. And you won’t
need to protect me. Last time, I checked I beat you when you tried to go rogue
and fight Tartarus alone.”
“What? You lost to a human?” Veronica
said, shocked.
“It was that one time. And she caught me
off-guard.”
“Yeah, I caught you off-guard. Or maybe
your Asgardian fighting style was too broad for my human fight styles.” Sydney said,
teasingly.
“Wow, if I didn’t know better, I
would’ve said you two are like sisters.”
“That’s because, I’ve known Sydney for a
long time. Twenty years if I remember correctly.”
“Yep, and not once did she tell she dated
my father.”
“Like I was supposed to know Raga was
you father. I only realized your daughter when the two of us fought each other.”
Valkyrie said.
“What?”
“Long story. But seriously, you can’t
come. I can’t protect you against the Gods.”
“Luckily, for me, I have a trick to
handle god.”
“Like what?” Valkyrie said with a
confused expression.
“You’ll see,” Sydney said.
Valkyrie sighed. “Fine,”
“So, uhm. We need to hurry if we want to
beat the Timestream Shift.” Veronica said.
“Timestream Shift. Don’t you have a Time
Jet like us?” Sydney said.
“Time Jet? Those exist! I’ve only heard
of something like that in stories.” Veronica said.
“What’s a Time Jet?” Valkyrie asked.
“I’ll explain it to you on the way.”
